SHARJAH: The 55th edition of the Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show opened today at Expo Centre Sharjah, running until 1 June 2025.

Recognised as the region’s largest bi-annual luxury trade exhibition, it is organised by Expo Centre Sharjah with support from the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).

This edition sees participation from over 500 exhibitors and 1,800 leading designers, manufacturers, and specialists in jewellery, luxury watches, and precious stones. Featuring representation from major global names, the event spans 30,000 square metres and is expected to draw more than 80,000 attendees including collectors, gold investors, and industry insiders.

Notably, exhibitors from Russia, Mexico, Tanzania, and Egypt are joining for the first time, broadening the show’s international presence. Participants also include high-profile names from the UAE, India, Italy, the UK, US, Singapore, China, Japan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Lebanon.

Record-breaking highlight

A standout moment on the opening day was the unveiling of the world’s longest diamond necklace by Amaar Jewels, a local exhibitor. The 108-metre necklace, crafted with over 600 lab-grown diamonds set in 18K rose gold, earned a place in the Guinness World Records. Officials from the committee assessed and confirmed its entry, adding international acclaim to the exhibition.

This exclusive display is one among several innovative showcases at the event, which presents a curated collection of 2025’s most exquisite jewellery. Exhibitors are revealing intricately designed pieces that blend traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, illustrating the creative evolution of the luxury jewellery sector.

Booming gold sector

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, noted the show’s strategic importance in strengthening the UAE’s position as a global hub for the gold and precious metals trade. He highlighted that the UAE’s gold trade value reached over Dh701 billion in 2024, reflecting a 43% year-on-year increase.

According to Al Owais, this robust growth affirms the increasing global demand for gold as a reliable investment and underscores the exhibition’s role in facilitating deals, partnerships, and international collaborations.

Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah, described the event as a leading global platform for the jewellery sector. He emphasised its significance in showcasing product innovation and enabling strategic networking among global players.

This year’s show offers direct purchasing opportunities for collectors and investors seeking exclusive pieces and limited-edition collections. Attendees can explore a vast range of offerings including 21-karat gold sets, diamond-encrusted items, platinum and silver jewellery, coloured gemstones, pearls, and high-end watches from prestigious brands.

A key attraction is the International Jewellery Design Competition, with prizes in gold and bespoke items, offering an incentive for both professionals and enthusiasts to engage. The show’s dynamic environment encourages business development, design exchange, and talent recognition.
